Whether you like it or not, football does unite people. It is the secret device that unleashes all the politicians' lies about people hating each other and shows to the world that people do not hate each other as much as your news bulletin or your leader sitting on his throne are trying to convicne you
Congratulations for Iraq!

And at the same time it divides people:)
well it sure divides. Just look at those insane hooligans in england. But in our case, as arabs, it could serve good. Congrats for Iraq.
mohanned... when hooligans go crazy you'd know it's all the british who do that. But it is striking sometimes to see nations who are labelled as enemies playing together -in football or any other sport-
Look at Iraq and Kuwait for example, playing together was an absolute no-no between 1991 and 2003, but now they play together without problems. It's the same people ... just different leaders.
yazan ashqar... thanks for visiting. Same reply as to mohanned above!
I agree with you Fares,I am sure that all arabs from the gulf to the ocean got happy for this marvellous moment in the Iraqi soccer history. I am glad that the Iraqis were able to enjoy & to celebrate -at least- for one day in this continous horrible war. It was a moment that touched our hearts.
May God help them, to survive to live that day when Iraq regains its glory days.

bas you know what? that USA-Iran Game was for sure not a friendly game. i remember each team was playing as if they were in war!
bas Walllah el Iraqi team gave smile to their people! and they deserve it
Yes yes , very true indeed! You should've saw Al-Rabiya area that day , It's an unforgetable scene, I thought I was in Baghdad for a sec! People 3ala mad el nazar wel kul 7amleen 3alam el 3iraq! But I'm really glad Iraq won , they really deserved it , and hey , we got a couple of 7ilwans out of it too!
sophia... thanks for visiting, I think every true Arab was glad for this victory.
Maher... I think the Iranians took it more seriously than Americans. Their victory was as if it was a victory in a war. I still feel that the players themselves had little or no hard feelings towards American players. Yuo won;t be exchanging gifts and taking pictures with someone you hate even if you were asked to.
citiznen N.. too bad I missed the 7alwan!
Hi Fares,
I have heard- thru the internet media- that the Iraqi people who were celebrating in Rabbyia were beaten by the Jordanian policemen, and that they stepped on the Iraqi flags,is that right? and did it really happen?
What a shame if that really happened in Amman.
I live in the US so I don't know, but I really doubt that story
