RRH, this is so horrible and sad.

Just for a bit of perspective, my Iraqi friends tell me that under Saddam there were very few Iraqis marrying and having children, not having hope that there would ever be a future. There is still hope.

I read your comments on Issam's blog, and can understand the confusing emotions you must have, especially when faced with photos like this. Because I have them too. I pray for peace in Iraq streets, and for forgiveness for what my country by force, and Iraq's neighbors by silence, have caused.

Well Kinzi, my emotions are very mixed about a lot of things, but there are a few things which i am certain of. This was is all about oil and to reinforce america's reign over the world. I'm also certain that Bush and Ceheney and their gang have fooled and still fooling the american people to keep this war coming.

majd.. democracy demands sacrifice when it's optional, when people choose to do it, not when a foreign country attacks them for the wrong reasons.

RRH, yes there is a certainty that America wants to protect it's precious, over inflated,oil-dependent economy by using what ever power it has to control. But look what happened with Kuwait, and how much Kuwaiti oil does the US import? My brother works for Shell, he says not much percentage wise.

I am also certain that every country in power like this has also done so, to their shame. It is the nature of man to steal and destroy and usurp from even the poor. Even nations that claim righteousness.

But I believe God is just, hears the voice of the oppressed, and that America's time of being top dog will end. But the nature of man will carry on, and some other nation will carry on the carnage.

I wrote Issam a piece on how I believe the US had a moral obligation to take Saddam out, due to the fact we manipulated the power struggle with Iran by putting him in. We created the monster, we needed to own it.

Hope you don't mind me having such contrary opinions. :) I like your blog and what you post alot!

Well kinzi in the Us international policy, I don't think they know anything about morals. They took Saddam out because they would gain much more than if he was still there, and maybe for some other reasons, but if it was a koral obligation they would have taken a lot of dectators they ahve implanted in 3rd world countries out.
Yes a time will come when the US won't be the strongest country in the world, but i think this will be way long in the future and it will not solve any problem. The facts we have is that the strongest power in the world has to be oppressant so even if Europe or Japan or Sri Lanka became the new world power that wouldn't change things.

Maybe Iraqis will have abeter future now, but my concern is how easy it was to fool hundreds of millions of americans and lie to the whole world and start a war killing thousands of people based on a big fat lie and for speical inteests and instead of punishment the same government gets reelected to rule the strongest country in the world. My concern is that history will keep repeating itself in the future whether the strongest country in the world will be america or not.

And thanx for visitng i always welcome contrary opinions :)

RRH, thanks for your words, and I do share your concerns. The US doesn't "see" it's moral obligation until it has a financial interest to do so.
