Closing Jordan Planet: Wrong Decision
There's nothing to justify closing Jordan Planet. The quality of posts have not really detoriorated from before but it's now harder to follow. In case the administration felt there were too many blogs, it could have simply frozen some blogs especially those inactive ones, or restrict posting to a certain number of posts per week or month, or come up with different suggestions.
If it was to make a new design for the planet, that could have been done without shutting down the site for six months, and if the bloggers were asked I'm almost certain they'd prefer keeping Jordan Planet rather than closing it for six month to add new colors.
Besides, the old Jordan Planet where the front page was full of picutres was much more attractive to read than the most recent where almost no photos would appear on the front page.
I really don't know who's running the planet other than Isam, he did a wonderful job creating the planet, and if needed help I'm sure many bloggers would be more than happy to, but closing down the site seems like avoiding solving a problem rather than dealing with it.
Again, if there are other reasosns for closing JP we need to know.

I'm absolutely with you on this. I hope they would reconsider
You said it all. I agree with you.
Absolutely right
Salam,
In the mean time visit http://jordanblogs.net. till JP comes back to live.
Peace
true, it's very lame to see it go that way
I agree... that was lame:S
I totally agree... and It feels really weird the way they might be thinking 'it's no big deal' ... when it is!
It's the first thing I check- first thing in the morning when im at work... it's as important as my morning nescafe...
Anyway if they think it's no big deal and it's that easy.. then i'd replace it with the new jordanblogs! thanks palforce... great work! really!
Well said. I think that's the problem with having an aggregator where only a few individuals are in control. To us it feels like a public service that should not be taken away, but then again it is "privately owned" in one sense. Still, I believe that the quality of posts is not something that can be judged objectively. It's very subjective, and the readers should be the ones who decide. If they don't like something they click on, they won't go there again. Those who have low quality bad posts will not get much hits, will not have many readers, and will not really impact JP.
On the other hand, I have a feeling that many other alternatives will emerge as a result of this action. The more the merrier I guess.
It is privately owned, but no one have the right to call it jordan planet and not include all jordanian blogers,or just call it by you,r name make it private club.
I'm sure it is all my fault, since I could not control my JP addiction GOD himself closed it down (not that Issam is God :))
It's not forever, and this group of folks do make it happen voluntarily. I think perhaps it has become something they didn't plan on...outside their vision for what it was?
Perhaps they weren't planning on people like me writing about such things as messy kids and endless cookies!
Hareega,
I do not think that there is any hidden agenda. I joined the JP almost since its startdom and I noticed a decline in the quality of posts as well but this is not the main issue here. I think that the current design was not reading-friendly. To be honest, I stopped reading JP few months ago as I got irritated every time searching among titles to read. I think that they should adopt a design that very similar to itoot, where you can read and vote for best posts.
thank you for your points guys, I think that Issam did a tremendous effort in JP, and all what it takes is maybe an extra help because the addition of all these blogs was overwhelming although some of them are really damn good.
Issam I totally agree that the front page of JP sucks, i mentioned that in previous posts here and nothing was changed, I hope someone is working hard on it now, otherwise it would be really sad to see it go down so dramatically
it became too political. GET IT?
anonymous... i thought so, but is this just your guess?? if you know somwthing let us know !
