Help is on the way

After Italy won the World Cup in 1982, they dedicated their marvelous victory to the Palestenian people.

Do we need their help again on Sunday to remind us of what's happening in Gaza?

Yeah, I read about that 2 days ago, and I was pretty seriously happy... Although France's got much more pilgrims from Arab origins, but they sure didn't and wouldn't do it. What Italy did -and would hopefully do- would be more of a spiritual thing. It should mean a lot to the little kids there in Palestine; People and Italians are aware of the crisis. Would the help by the Italians remind us about it?? I’d leave the rest to answer the question… but I hope this time, the Italians would mention the Iraqis too

Is that true? I haven't heard of it! would you please add a link to the source. I'm interested in knowing more

Well lubna I really don't think it will mean much for Palestenians living over there, and I don't expect Italians or any other team to make the same gesture anytime soon although I hope they will. But I find it symbolic how we want non-Arab countries to draw the attention to our problems.

Qwaider... walla i looked and looked for it but couldn't find. I just know it as a fatc. These things do not get much publicity. If I get any link i'll let you know.

I don't think it's about it being symbolic... the WC is something so famous and popular. A message sent on TV by those winning players and that is talking about you, would make you realize "reality"... At the same time, date, and world these ppl are talking about me (the palestinian), my problems, and my current problem... It's more of a happy sad shock...

that's how i see it!

Arabs never won the cup... maybe if they would, they'd do the same thing and then we won't need "non-arab countries to draw attention to our problems"

Lubna...
Honeslty I would really doubt it if any Arabic team would think of Palestenians as they're winning a major competition.

Yup, it's true the Italian Fooball Federation did dedicate their victory to the Palestinians at the time Sharon was destroying Beriut...
