The Wisest Won

Club Zain of Jordan defeated Al-Hikmah of Lebanon 72-67 to become the new Arab Champions of basketball.

Great result from the team and the coaching staff. One person should be fired though- the moron who picked up the name "Zain".

Yeah he should be fired along with the guy who decided to use four Americans and a player from another club to win the title in a competition that featured two semi-decent teams.
Jamal Sampson made $75,000 to play in 7 games.
Rashiem Wright $30,000
And I am not sure about the three other Schmucks...

The question is ...."is sports about winning meaningless title..."

Ask anyone who has been involved involved with basketball over the past five years and they will tell you that the cell-phone company's team has killed Jordanian basketball.

I know what you mean, Zain has no reason to exist. I remember in 1991a club for Japan called Nissan won Asia's cup and it felt very strange, who in the world would support a team like that? People who own Nissan cars?

In Syria and Lebanon they don't have that trend, but in gulf countries they're bringing these foriegn players and even suqeezing them into their national teams. Zain, being a company that aims only for money, did the same thing.

I have to admit though that I would have enjoyed it much more if Al-Ahli (RIP) won such title even though I nevrr cheered for Ahli before.
